More On This Farm

Juniper Gardens Training Farm sits on nine reclaimed acres of land previously used for HUD housing. On this site, sixteen New Roots for Refugees farmers-in-training grow vegetables, herbs and flowers for twelve different KC farmers markets, their own CSAs and wholesale to restaurants and grocery stores. A collaboration of Catholic Charities of NE Kansas and Cultivate Kansas City, the program boasts a four-year curriculum of workshops, one-ton-one field walks, technical assistance, production planning and business planning to the participating refugee families. The goal of the program is to grow new KC growers; assistance is given to the farmers their third and fourth years prepping them for graduation onto their own land. The site also hosts neighborhood community gardeners.
