Comamos Saludable is an educational herb garden established by the Irene H. Ruiz Branch of the Kansas City Public Library. This location additionally offers a free seed library and partners with Switzer Neighborhood Farm, located just to the north, to provide gardening opportunities and workshops to Westside residents. Also on site are the rain gardens, which were established in 2012, and a small butterfly garden, which was planted last year. This location is a perfect example of how to creatively grow food in a small space and educate the community. Visit this site to learn more about growing native species and utilizing them for herbal medicine. Tours will also discuss the perceived environmental challenges of gardening in urban spaces, including soil conditions.
